Holbein


Anamorphosis a la Holbein’s “The Ambassadors”-- Whatever the painting on the floor is depicting, I have no idea. These little artistic tricks remind me of the use of convex mirrors to portray more than what's in the setting of the portrait. Nabokov gets into this in "Pnin" with the chapter on Pnin's son's artistic training, e.g. shiny bumpers of a car etc.
